Green Printer

Green can be Lean!

40-60% savings for office printing
50% Carbon Footprint savings

It sounds too good to be true but it’s very simple…refurbished printers, good as new in fact we reckon better! Why? Lower cost cartridges. Better page yield. More robust than new plastic printers. Lower carbon footprint.

180 Metres of mobile FLOODSTOP flood barrier deployed in just 90 minutes.
Water enters the small holes in the bottom of the units so self stabilising them.  This innovative design means the barriers are highly mobile yet able to divert water.

Second Flood Blog

February 16, 2009

Peter Eales Flood BlogHere is the  Nature’s Presents Onofficial Flood Guide with a one page To Do List when you find yourself in an emergency if your property is flooded.   Similar to my situation in a Somerset years ago.  Our thanks to the Civil Contingencies team at Somerset County Council for their input to the list.

There are various Flood Guides to help in flood defence situations.  The intention here is specifically a pragamatic approach.  I said to various experts we know in flooding and emergency planning: if you could only list on one page the key things to do, what would they be?

While we were at the Flood Day last week in Crewkerne, Simon Phelps my amazing inventor colleague of FLOODSTOP, and I saw a few nifty ideas.  We added a couple of these to the back of the Flood list.  This included a company who make huge plastic bags.  You can even fit a car inside one of these bags!

Flooded vehicles

Flooded vehicles

Vehicles can be Death Traps

Some of the First Aid team we spoke to last week including ex police, confirmed the danger of being in vehicles during floods.  There are various figures one sees on the internet about the majority of deaths in floods happening in vehicles.  What the guys did say to us was the over-optimism people have driving fast into water, not realising that even when water is half-way up a tyre it can signal real danger.

Anyway, it’s dry and warm today for a change!

PS if you don’t want the whole list here’s an even shorter version…

Down in Dorset the roads are flooded just a few days after ice and snow…

My brother in Sydney is experiencing incredible heat.  It’s no no longer we British who talk about the weather all the time.  It interests: not it worries and affects us all.
I have to admit I actually love storms and the wind.  It’s one of the reasons we moved to the sea and have a fantastic beach-hut.  Everyone else uses theirs just in the summer.  I rush down when the weather closes in.

This week I’m talking flooding with Emergency Planning Officers in the West of England and various services people.  It’s a kind of Flood Day where the County organises for the Parish Council and local people to see our Flood Barrier and we can give some advice.

I just hope I can get there without being cut- off by snow as I was last week!

Keep dry and safe.

Peter
